In Vogue

This month in Vogue several themes are re-appearing as trends for FW13.

Beauty - Rouge

"Let's paint the town RED"

Red lipstick has always been a beautiful & classical statement.  Red, is definitely an autumnal colour with the red autumn leaves that fall from the trees.

Even on the front and back cover of this issue showcases this trend, even with the typography used. I would say that 80% of models in the magazine had red lipstick on.

Fashion - Sweaters

The awfully cold and frosty weather is once again approaching, and I for one know it! I am right one feeling very ill.

Everyone needs a few jumpers/sweaters to keep warm in this freezing cold weather and this year there are many signature styles, from bold prints, to plain textures.

Instead of just throwing a cosy jumper on with a pair of jeans this season it's all about skirts/dresses. All over the catwalk it was seen to put jumpers with skirts, or perhaps over a dress. I really like the versatileness of a dress from summer to winter. The bottom of the dress can be showcased on its own - making a whole new outfit and transforming the dress in a different light.

Another big trend is playing with textures. The pattern of the knitted wool from the sweater against a patterned skirt, or a leather texture. Texture can make what seems the most simplest of outfit, more intricate and stylish.

Hair - Middle partings

Something that is all over the catwalks, celebrities as well as trending within the hair industry at the moment is middle partings.
They look very simple and stylish at the same time, also not much effort is needed with sorting out your fringe - unless you have a fringe and are now trying out this famous middle parting then it could use some effort!

Decor - Library

"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers." - Charles W. Eliot

Library bookshelf themes seem to be all over the place this season.

You don't even need to live in a stately home to take on this theme. You can just artistically stake them, or buy a cheap & cheerful ikea book shelf. However, if you're not into actual reading, I've also seen a lot of wallpaper that has bookshelfs filled with books as a pattern!

Personally, I don't think that there is anything better than on a cold day being snuggled up in a cosy blanket, against a fire with a good book. Oh and don't forget the seasonal hot chocolate complete with cream, marshmallows, and a flake!

I love how a good book can transport you into another world so completely that for that moment you forget your own, you can be a whole different person. Books give you so many emotions that reading is truly a wonderful thing.
