So these modules haven't been my cup of tea - opera and Plato.... But I have finally finished both, which my assignment is on which is due in may 3rd. Hopefully I'll get a good mark like I did for my 2nd assignment I was so overjoyed with my mark on that!

I've also unfortunately finished the great poetry chapter that I loved! Onto architecture now....

After not enjoying the likes of opera and Plato, I felt less than motivated!

But I'm absolutely loving this poetry topic! My degree is more English based than anything else, so I've not really enjoyed the music side. It also helps that I've always been a fan of poetry (Edgar Allen Poe and Sylvia Plath) and now I get to study it more in depth!

I really do think that the interest of a topic does help a lot with your motivation to do said topic, for example if you like a book on a certain topic your more likely to read and enjoy that than of a topic you find boring and/or have no interest in at all. That's defiantly what happened to me with opera and Plato. Maybe it's my age but I can't stand opera, and so I had no interest in reading it at all.

It's also great to learn new words that relate to the topic - I'm such a nerd right? Im really enjoying the book on its own I've read some of the other poems that aren't discussed in the course book but they're all really good too, I think I'm going to defiantly re-read this book again in the future of my own leisure.

As for notes so far I'm only on the second chapter of the topic but I've made a glossary of key words, written about the first poem we studied 'the fly' and about how that uses rhyming techniques, what these techniques are called and so on. Also about my views and thoughts of the poem. I've also this time written down the actives in my note book instead of writing all over the course book and just highlighting key terms or bits of interest that could be useful to my future english assignments. Which makes more a neater book and more organised notes.

So today I started studying the last topic of book 1 the Dali Lama it's actually really interesting so far!

I've always enjoyed learning religious education/philosophy at school I got a B in my GCSE. I just find the whole topic very interesting and it's good to find out about other cultures and what a religion offers to the followers of it.

Personally I have no problem with any religion. I think that whatever you believe in will happen to you when you die. Also that we are all going to die its inevitable and well let's face it the unknown is scary! So if it helps humans to cling onto some sense of hope to relieve such a fear in their lives then there is nothing wrong with that. However what I'm not too keen on is the wars and violence that comes with religion we should all just live together and be kinda and peaceful to one another - as the Buddhists say and with Karma.

I, myself was brought up in a Christian environment, went to a school that taught the bible from a young age.... and well I do believe in God but I do also believe in the notion of karma - being what goes around comes around. And basically I do believe that evil shall be punished and that good prevails all in the end, manners, kindness and all that other good stuff costs nothing and well it makes others feel happy when someone is nice to them!

I joined the Open University last year in 2012. I am still waiting for my degree to start, February 2nd 2013.

I'm doing a BA Honors degree in Language Studies, French and English. I have always loved languages, especially French. It's my dream to teach English abroad and to be able to travel the world; I have a massive case of wanderlust.

My degree will take hopefully 4 years to complete, well it should do with my plan of action anyway! In February I will start the course AA100, Arts Past and Present. The course itself looks at many aspects of art including history, literature, paintings and music. Since I've not done a university course before it should help me to settle in and gain a strong grasp of essay writing.

I have already looked over the booklet which contains information about how to write essays and so on, I also highlighted the key information for when I need to look over it again. I also viewed the DVD on my first module - Cleopatra's image and read through the chapter on that. However I wasn't really sure what to do as I've not spoken with a tutor at all yet. But, I thought perhaps it was best to get a head start.
